Apollo Hotel Now Ready for Blast Off
posted on 25 July 2015
Following the signing of the agreement with the Apollo Hotel, Hagley Road, Edgbaston to provide two Lodge/Chapter Rooms and dining facilities progress is being made to finalise the arrangements. The two rooms will be set up to provide firstly a permanent Lodge room and secondly a room where the other Orders using the facility can set up their equipment as they wish to – and store away again at the end of the meeting!
In order that we can start the new masonic year with a clear understanding of procedures each Lodge or Chapter that will use Apollo Hotel, Hagley Road, Edgbaston as its meeting place is invited to send two or three senior Officers to view the building facilities and sample the menu and service at a “rehearsal” meeting on Tuesday 18th August at 6.15 pm. They will be able to look at the building, which by then will have rooms which been set up as a Lodge room and possibly a Chapter room etc., follow the trail from arrival at the hotel entrance, through the changing area, into the Tyler’s lobby and then in to the Lodge and Chapter room. This will enable them to become familiar with the layout and to be clear as to what will need to be taken to meetings.
After the tour the attendees will dine together as at a festive board so that the waiting staff can better understand our needs with regard to service, wine taking procedures and toasts for example. The dress code will be jacket and tie and the aim will be to dine at 7.30 pm and be away by 9.00 pm. There will be no ritual performed and so all Orders are invited to participate.
A three course masonic menu of chicken liver pate, roast pork chop, cheddar cheese with biscuits and coffee will be served at £25 per head including house wines.
This modern hotel is 1.1 miles from Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Glasshouses and 1.6 miles from the National Indoor Arena.
