St Michaels at Coughton, Nr Studley

The annual Royal Arch Church Service was held on what was a beautiful Spring day on Sunday 13th March 2016, as usual in the beautiful Parish church of St Michaels at Coughton, Nr Studley. There was a splendid attendance of over 130 Companions and their partners. The sun shone, Coughton Court looked splendid in the Spring sunshine, the daffodils were out and this made for a very pleasant occasion.

The ME Grand Superintendent, John Saint, the Deputy Grand Superintendent, John Handley, the Second Provincial Grand Principal, Paul Wheeler, and the Third Provincial Grand Principal, Fred Ditchfield all attended and were pleased to welcome the Companions and their families as well as many other distinguished masons from within the Province.

The service which had the theme of “God Who Embraces Suffering”, after a welcome from the Rector of the Church, Rev Adrian Guthrie, was conducted by E.Comp. Revd Canon Michael Wilson MA, MBA, the Grand Chaplain for UGLE who is also the Third Provincial Grand Principal for Leics & Rutland, who also preached the sermon. The Provincial Choir, again under the direction of E. Comp Michael Irving, were magnificent and provided an excellent musical lead in what was a delightful service which was truly uplifting and a joy to be part of.

After the Service, refreshments were provided at The Kings Court Hotel so that Companions could stay on and socialise in the relaxed and very convivial atmosphere. This was a lovely day which everyone who attended really enjoyed.
