New Second Provincial Grand Principal Invested
posted on 12 November 2015
Warwickshire was well represented at the Supreme Grand Chapter Convocation on 11th November with no less than a dozen Companions attending the meeting. With two of our members as Acting Grand Officers, David Macey, the Grand Sword Bearer and David Shakeshaft one of the Grand Standard Bearers it was wonderful to see them in action.
The Convocation was opened with ME Comp Peter Lowndes, the Pro First Grand Principal presiding and after the distinguished guests were welcomed and the minutes approved the next item was the Investiture of E Comp Russell Race, the Past Metropolitan Grand Superintendent as Second Grand Principal in succession to ME Comp George Pipon Francis. This was conducted in fine style by the Pro First Grand Principal and ME Russell duly took his seat in Grand Chapter.
ME Comp George is well known to the Warwickshire Companions having attended a number of meetings in the Province and will be remembered for his many achievements and tireless work in raising the profile of the Holy Royal Arch since his own Installation in November 2005.
It being Armistice Day the ME Pro First Grand Principal in his address reminded the Companions that the whole building of Freemasons’ Hall is a memorial to commemorate the fallen in the Two World Wars. A poppy wreath had been laid at the memorial shrine in the first vestibule to the Grand Temple, in front of the casket which holds the roll listing over 3,000 of our members who gave their lives on active service in the First World War.
