Nearly forty Companions from Warwickshire and Worcestershire joined together on Wednesday 1st October 2014 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the consecration of the Grosvenor Chapter No 938 including the Deputy Grand Superintendent, E Comp John Handley who represented the Province and was supported by the Third Grand Principal E Comp Peter Huckle and E Comp Michael Burman the ProvGSN. Also attending was Past G Supt of Worcs, E Comp Richard Price, Past DepGSupt E Comp Rex Lowin, Past Provincial Second Grand Principal E Comp John Norman and Past Third Principal Dr Michael Harrison together with a good number of Acting Provincial Officers and representatives of associated Chapters. Through the kind cooperation of Temperance Chapter, who kindly moved their own meeting date, Grosvenor were able to hold their event exactly 150 years since their first meeting.
The Chapter SE, Richard Austen had on display the original Janitor’s book and copies of early minutes which were of interest to the attendees. They confirmed that at the Consecration meeting there were only nine Companions in attendance!
After the Chapter Principals, E Comp Roy James – Z, E Comp Ken Wilkinson – H and E Comp Humberto Campos – J, had opened the Chapter the Companions made a presentation of the Mystical Lecture in catechetical form which was delivered well and received applause from the attendees. E Comp Richard Austen then gave a History of the Chapter which was enjoyed by all.
After the Dep Grand Superintendent had brought greetings and congratulations from the Province together with the good wishes of the ME Grand Superintendent the Chapter was closed and the Companions retired to the Festive Board where a splendid dinner was had. An enjoyable and happy night of Companionship.
