Charles Andrew Gregory Cunnington, P.G.Swd.B, was obligated, invested and installed as Grand Superintendent in and over the Province of DerbyshireProvince of Derbyshire, in succession to E.Comp. Tom Briggs, a very good friend of Warwickshire, who retired earlier in the year. The ceremony was carried out in a most impressive manner, at the Masonic Hall, Littleover, Derby, by E.Comp. George Pipon Francis, the Second Grand Principal, assisted by E.Comp. Philip Hall, DeputyGDC, acting as Grand Director of Ceremonies and E.Comp. Graham Redman, Deputy GSE, who read the patent.
E.Comp. Charles Cunnington, who had been Deputy Grand Superintendent-in-charge, is also a Warwickshire Companion, being a member of Peace and Harmony Chapter No 3929, where he will be installed as Third Principal in October 2014.
Having been Installed, the new Grand Superintendent appointed E.Comp. Brian Higton, QFSM, PGStB, as his Deputy and re-appointed all the other Provincial Grand Officers appointed by E.Comp. Tom Briggs in March 2014.
After the ceremony, most of the assembled company attended the lunch, during which the Second Grand Principal presented E.Comp. Charles with a pair of ‘Grand Superintendent’s Cufflinks’. E.Comp. Charles reciprocated by presenting the Second Grand Principal with a Royal Crown Derby Ram. The Second Grand Principal also delivered a special personal present from the Most Excellent First Grand Principal, HRH The Duke of Kent – a ‘Kent Cube’ – a clear acrylic cube encapsulating a ‘gold’ medallion displaying the Royal Arch Coat of Arms on one side and the Duke’s signature ‘Edward’ on the reverse.
