The Benefits of Visiting

Supporting Chapters as they exalt new candidates remains a key focus for our executive and recently Deputy Grand Superintendent E Comp Philip Gough had the pleasure of joining with the companions of Ex Cathedra Chapter in exalting W Bro James Benson. With E Comp Keith Reynolds as MEZ a great night was had by all. Rapid promotion ensued with Comp Benson being invested as a Steward of the Chapter.

One of the joys of Freemasonry is that family members often join key events and on this occasion Comp Benson was supported by his uncle who had travelled up from Sussex. But visiting can provide other benefits; it is also that you often meet old friends and acquaintances. On this occasion and having sat next to one another for twenty minutes at Festive Board our Deputy Grand Superintendent and the candidate’s uncle realised that they were at school together! E Comp Philip is now hoping that that an invite to their old school Lodge, Old Dixonians will be taken up.

Your reporter is pleased to say that the Deputy Grand Superintendent may not be able to immediately recall old school friends but can still remember his address, ritual and how to get home.
